A RAM disc is the opposite of a page file. Instead of taking part of your hard disc and using it as RAM, the computer takes part of your RAM and uses it as a hard disk. This allows the information to be accessed much more quickly than it could be off of the hard disc, but it comes at a cost. Remember that RAM is volatile. This means that, when the RAM is used as a hard disc, any information stored in that RAM is lost as soon as the computer is shut down.
